My characters mix grit with glamour
Sadé (Shah-day) Unique Grandberry is an up-and-coming actress, filmmaker, and poet from Newark, NJ. Her parents wanted her to be a doctor, but she decided to study Theater & Journalism instead. After graduating magna cum laude from Rutgers University, she tried getting a "real job," but quickly realized acting was more real to her.
Having recently re-discovered her passion for words, she has been steadily working on producing her first visual poetry album, as well as content starring female anti-heroes, a character type she loves to play. Her recent credits include playing McKenzie, a sassy high school student, in the film Immortal starring Dylan Baker and Mario van Peebles, a national commercial with Sierra Trading Post, and star, writer, and producer of her upcoming web series, LesBEING, about the true story of how her friendship with her wife turned into both of their first and only homosexual relationship and the challenges they faced because of it. Her script went on to become a semi-finalist in Lena Waithe’s Macro Episodic Lab.
Through her work, Sadé wishes to tell the stories that are untold. The ones that are often overlooked as not being important or significant enough and the stories of people of color doing both extraordinary and ordinary things.
